The "Chill Guy" saga has unraveled spectacularly, leaving the crypto community stunned. Once praised for declining a $500K donation in exchange for IP rights, the artist behind the viral art has been exposed. It turns out the artwork originated from a Thai book published eight years ago, making the IP effectively non-existent. Adding insult to injury, the "Chill Guy" artist’s bank account remains empty, with many labeling the situation outright intellectual property theft.
Meanwhile, $OGCHILLGUY—a token inspired by the Chill Guy art—was rugged, plummeting 95% in value. The largest holder cashed out with $86K, leaving the market cap at just $190K. The saga extends further with $RELAXBOY, a token inspired by a Vietnamese children’s book character—likely the real origin of the "Chill Guy" imagery—which reached an $8M cap. What began as a celebration of "just a relaxed boy" next to a dog has turned into one of crypto’s wildest IP fiascos.
