A new wave of AI-generated art styled after Studio Ghibli films has taken over the internet, thanks to OpenAI’s latest GPT-4o model. This update enables users to transform images into the beloved Ghibli aesthetic, flooding social media with anime-style versions of famous figures, historical moments, and personal photos. The trend exploded when Elon Musk and OpenAI founder Sam Altman shared Ghibli-themed AI images, sparking a frenzy that quickly bled into the crypto world. As a result, Ghibli-themed tokens have surged, with the $Ghibli token on Solana reaching a $23 million market cap, while $Totoro and $GhibliDoge have also gained traction.
This crypto craze mirrors previous memecoin cycles, where viral internet trends fuel speculative trading. In just 24 hours, $Ghibli saw over $75 million in trading volume, surging 159%.

There are $14.4 Billion worth of BTC and ETH options expiring tomorrow. Historically, such large quarterly expiries have driven volatility, but current indicators, including the Bitcoin 30-day implied volatility index (DVOL) and perpetual futures basis, suggest otherwise. The DVOL has dipped from 62% to 48%, and with 65% of open interest concentrated in call options, bullish sentiment remains intact. Even macroeconomic factors, like Trump's 25% vehicle tariff and Mt. Gox's Bitcoin movements, haven’t spiked volatility.
While some downside hedging is occurring, broader market sentiment remains stable. The put/call ratio of 0.52 leans bearish, but a "slightly negative" 30-day put-call skew signals medium term optimism. Additionally, Ethereum options worth $2.8 billion are set to expire alongside Bitcoin’s contracts, but analysts still anticipate limited price swings. With no major risk events defining this quarter, the crypto options market appears poised for an unusually quiet expiry. Since Bitcoin’s in the news, $TITCOIN had a great day, with a 57% increase to a market cap of $4.6 million.
