Zcash has continued to rise, it’s remarkable. Zcash, the a permissioned token launched in 2016 by the Electric Coin Company as a Bitcoin fork using zk-SNARKs to hide sender, receiver, and transaction amounts while supporting both transparent and shielded transfers. It has a fixed 21 million supply with about 16 million in circulation and has seen major upgrades like NU5 and NU6 improving shielded transaction efficiency and treasury transparency. The recent rally began as privacy narratives returned to focus following crackdowns on Bitcoin privacy tools, with over 30 percent of ZEC now in shielded pools and the Zashi wallet integrating NEAR Intents for easier private cross-chain transfers. Increased trading exposure from Hyperliquid’s ZEC perpetuals and rising derivatives activity have driven ZEC from $281 (first Hype mentioned) to $543, up 65% in a week, reflecting renewed demand for privacy assets.
