Since, the mew year is about to begin, lets recap the top “calls” (NFA & DYOR) that the Hype Train wrote about this year. In quite possibly one of the best snipes of memecoin history, the $HUZZ was our top call this year. As a Gen-Z brotha myself, I knew potential when I saw it, therefore writing about it at a $18 Thousand Market Cap. It pumped out of nowhere, reaching a market cap of $38 Million in mid November. If you put $10 in when we called it, and took it out at its peak, just a luh calm $21,277 return. Unforch, its lost its rizz, as the $HUZZ is now down to a $149 Thousand market cap. In 2024, Solana has emerged as a DeFi powerhouse, leading all blockchains in DEX volume and adoption. This meteoric rise was fueled by an expanding user base, high-speed transactions, and low costs. Projects across the blockchain world, from TradFi giants to NFT collections, flocked to Solana, tapping into its thriving ecosystem and network effect.
Among the many migrations, four standouts played pivotal roles in Solana’s renaissance:
PayPal USD ($PYUSD): PayPal bridged its native stablecoin to Solana in May 2024. Generous incentives catapulted $PYUSD’s supply on Solana to an all-time high of 663M tokens, with the network commanding 65% of its total circulation. This cemented Solana’s position as a DeFi leader.
SKY (formerly MakerDAO): Expanding to Solana in September, SKY introduced its $USDS stablecoin to the ecosystem. As the fifth-largest stablecoin on Solana, $USDS bolstered the chain’s DeFi capabilities and user options.
Binance & ByBit Liquid Staking Tokens: These centralized exchanges launched $bnSOL and $bbSOL, allowing users to earn staking rewards without locking assets. Together, the tokens attracted over 5.2M staked SOL, boosting Solana’s staking economy.
Coinbase’s $cbBTC: As a Bitcoin-pegged asset, $cbBTC provided Solana users with new liquidity options for BTC-backed DeFi strategies. This launch marked a significant addition to Solana’s financial toolkit.
Solana’s journey from collapse to resurgence showcases its ability to adapt and innovate. With growing developer engagement, record-breaking trading volumes, and a robust ecosystem of dApps, it’s firmly positioned as Ethereum’s fiercest competitor. While SOL’s 2024 price of $190.89 signals its growing market relevance, long-term price predictions suggest a potential surge to $994 by 2030. For now, Solana remains a testament to blockchain resilience, attracting capital and talent in equal measure.

The death of 26-year-old former OpenAI researcher Suchir Balaji has sparked controversy as his family disputes the ruling of suicide by San Francisco authorities. Balaji’s parents claim evidence of a struggle, including bloodstains and a ransacked apartment, suggests foul play. His mother, questioning the lack of a note and citing his plans to visit them in January, has called for a deeper investigation. Adding to the intrigue, Elon Musk publicly stated, “This doesn’t appear to be a suicide,” reigniting public scrutiny of the case.
Musk’s remarks also triggered a bizarre reaction in the crypto world, with a memecoin named after Balaji surging over 280% before plummeting by 49% today, leaving its market cap at $6.3 million. What affect will this have on the future of OpenAI, and their proposed coin coming out soon.
